Friday Finds

Happy Friday Ya'll

Any fun weekend plans? I think we'll be staying local and taking the boys to enjoy some fun outdoor activities. Our plans will most likely involve a playground, popsicles and a pool.

Here's what been on my mind this week:

1. Loving anything with floral prints these days.

2. Gingham shirt. Get one....now! So cute!

3. Hello Dairy Free Maple Caramel Ice Cream with Salted Chocolate Popcorn Topping. Let me know if you want the super easy 4 ingredient recipe!!

4. This pineapple shirt was just added to my closet. Love!

5. I'm not a huge collector of black clothing, but loving this look right now. So city summery.

6. Saw these at Nordstroms this week. Love them but what the heck do they go with? Thoughts anyone?

7. Gingham shirt take 2. Get one!

That is all my friends. What are your favorite pins this week or new styles you're dying to give a try?

A Birthday & Celebrating an Amazing Dad

Happy Wednesday! Hope your week is going well. We had such a great weekend with family and celebrating Father's Day. How was yours?

If my boys could live at the park, they would. They love the outdoors and anything that has to do with being outside. Friday, after I picked them up from daycare, I surprised them with a trip to the park. They were so excited. (this doesn't happen too often because as much as they like to play outside on weeknights, their hungry little tummies disagree and this mom needs to start dinner asap) But we were able to squeeze a good 30 minutes into some serious playtime.

Saturday we headed over to Riverside for a special little girls first birthday party, Aria. The party took place at a great park and once again the boys had a wonderful time playing outside with all their cousins.

The drive home was quite nice seeing as they fell fast asleep as soon as we hit the road.

The next day was Father's Day, so of course we asked Daddy what he wanted to do for his special day. He had several options to choose from (a beach in Santa Cruz, a drive to Big Sur or lay by the pool). He actually chose Vasona Park in Los Gatos. The boys played once again at the playground, we took the train around the park (Choo choo), walked over to the lake and found an ice cream truck.

We had a great day and the boys went to bed at a record time of over an hour early for each of them. WINNING!

You always envision marrying a great man who then becomes an even greater father. I'm such a lucky gal to have that vision come true. He's my true love, my best friend, my partner in crime and the best father to our little men.

Happy Father's Day hubby!

Friday Finds

Happy Friday Ya'll!

Below are some of my weekly Pinterest finds. I'm smitten with them all. Which one is your favorite? What's your summer go to trend/look this year?

1. LOVE these camel colored heels! I need to revive my heel collection and these may just be my next purchase.

2. Hello adorable summer outfit! So clean and classic. I love it! It reminds me to break out my fedora hat soon.

3. Floral blouse. A-MAZING! That's all...

4. Looking for a reason to buy this gorgeous dress and a place to wear it. Love it!

5. These rhinestone sandals from ASOS are so cute that I tried to purchase them online yesterday. No thinking. Just buying....They were out of my size. BOO for me but happy Hubby I'm sure.

6. I'm not the biggest fan of the mid-drift top all these young ladies are wearing these days because at my age I'm not sure anyone should be sporting a half top around, however this outfit is put together beautifully and it's very classic. I think I'd give this look a try.

7. These J Crew flats are just adorable!! The price...not-so-much.

Any fun weekend plans for Father's Day? I think we'll be heading down to Big Sur for the day and I'm crazy excited about that!

Have a great weekend!

Visiting Family & Home

Happy Hump Day! Is it Wednesday already?

I know the weekend was so long ago a couple of days ago, however I wanted to share with you some things I did over the weekend because we had such a fabulous time in my hometown. (Ok, so I'm not really from Chico, but the sticks we grew up in isn't really a town either so...potato potatoe)

Noah, Auntie Do Do and I went on a road trip Friday night from San Jose to San Francisco to Chico. We left SJ around 5:15pm, dropped Elliot off with the hubby at his work and then picked up Auntie Do Do in SF around 7:30pm. We devoured ate some very delicious tacos, was on the road again by 8:00pm and arrived in Chico around 11:30pm (with a little stop in Orland to drop off a ton of baby clothes, toys and books to Dana's BFF, Katie). Thanks for lightening up our load Katie!

Saturday morning we got up early (it was already hot by 7:00am!) to meet up with some old friends from elementary and high school to catch up over coffee in downtown Chico. It was so good to see these girls and some of their kiddos.

We then ventured off to the Chico Farmers Market. Everything looked and tasted so delicious!

After the market we walked around downtown (which consists of all of 2 streets) and low and behold we found a Powell's Candy Shop. Noah was beyond excited. And for the record, he picked out that Giants pez dispenser all by himself.

Future Giants fan again??

We headed back to the house for some much needed pool time since it was so dang hot out! I still can't believe after all our attempts the past 4 years that Noah is now loving the water. This is his second time in the pool and boy did he love it!

Swimming tires you out!
Saturday night we got to experience our little sister dance her last time for us at Hyperbole. She choreographed and danced in her own solo (which was a surprise) to thank her mom for all that she's done for her. We were all in tears. Best performance ever Brit! Each of her dances were amazing! She is an extremely talented dancer and I cannot wait to see her dance for San Diego State.

Sunday morning we scrambled to get the graduation party for Bryce and Brittany set up before 11am and we were successful! The decor looked so cute (hot dog bar, margarita bar) and we were ready to eat, drink and swim the day away.

After the party we packed it up and headed out to where we're really from, Capay. I hadn't been out there in years and so much has changed or just looks different because I'm all grown up now (am I?).

This is the Capay Store which is in walking distance of our K-8 elementary school. We used to LOVE riding our bikes here to buy some candy in the summers. It's under new ownership now and they have cute little tri-tip dinners on occasion and have really spruced the place up. We miss the old owners but glad the place is still up and running. Such good memories...

And here's my old school. I was here from kindergarten through 8th grade. I loved it here and wouldn't have changed where I grew up for anything. I wish I would have taken a better photo so you can see the cow pastures next door.

Here's our old school bus stop my dad built for us kids probably when I was around 6 or 7 years old. It's still sitting there on a private road, but no longer in use.

As we were driving out of Capay and into Orland territory we came across several of these train cars. So why not climb onto one and take a quick pic while your 4 year old is fast asleep in the car on this beautiful day of around 105 degrees? I can't think of a reason why not. Can you?

Until next time Chico, Capay and Orland!

Camping for the 4th of July!

Hi all! I have my very first guest contributor today....my sista, Dana Cornell. Dana has some great ideas for our upcoming camping trip on the 4th. Stay tuned for the after post to see how the three Hansen sisters turn camping into glamping.

So excited to be sharing one of my favorite places to camp. Living in Northern California we’re lucky to have many lakes and rivers as well as the Pacific Ocean, all home to lots of great camping destinations.
We love visiting Lake Almanor, located in Lassen Volcanic National Park. It’s actually a large reservoir with a 130 foot high dam! The lake itself is beautiful as you can see from the image below. That’s Mount Lassen in the background! Isn’t it gorgeous?!

This year a dozen of us will come together at this amazing lake for a long weekend of sunshine, good food, great company, and relaxation! The 4th of July can’t come soon enough!
It’s about 4 hour and 45 min from San Francisco, where we live. A bit of a drive but so worth it once you arrive.

I thought it’d be fun to put together some 4th of July camping ideas! You can’t camp without the proper treats; aka S’mores and Rice Krispy’s Treats!

I love this festive table setting! Already picked up my red tablecloths!

Who wouldn’t want a glass of this Star Spangled Sangria?! I’ll take two!

And just for fun I picked up some other festive items at Target in the dollar section; napkins, plates, beads, flags, tins, marshmallow roasting sticks!

If you have OCD are a planner like me, you’ve already got your 4th of July weekend mapped out as well!
Do you have any camping trips planned this summer? What are your 4th of July plans? Will you be traveling or laying low in your hometown?

The World According to a Four Year Old

Noah has always been a pretty funny kid and always has the most hysterical things to say, but I can never A, remember our exact conversations or B, have enough time to get my phone out to document these said stories, so moving forward I'm going to try my best to do both.

Here are some conversations we've had this past week:

Anytime I mention how beautiful or cute a girl is, he gets so embarrassed, starts to laugh and says "stop it mom".

The other night while in Santa Cruz we were looking for a place to eat dinner. We just so happened to be waiting at a stop light right by a Taco Bell and Noah says " We can eat at Taco Bell". The hubby and I look at each other and ask how he knows that's Taco Bell.
To his reply " because it was a bell". Well duh! Shame on us!

Noah's been telling us that he doesn't want to get old. I told him I don't want him to get old either. I told him he has a long time before that happens. First he'll go to big boy school, high school, away to college, get married, have kids and then still have a long time before you're "old". To his reply "Ewe! I don't want to kiss a girl and I don't need to get married because I already have a mommy." Insert my heart melting...That's right my little man!

Noah's "cool dude" pose.

Spontaneous Weekend

We had the best weekend! Here are some highlights:

We've decided to start a street biker gang. We're still working on the name. I'm thinking something super hardcore. Stay tuned...

On Saturday we all went to a baby shower for a very sweet couple that work with the hubby. We can't wait to find out the sex of the baby!

After the shower, we spontaneously decided to take a fun family drive over 92 towards Half Moon Bay and from there decided to head over to Mavericks Beach to see if we could witness some of these massive waves they always get.

We went, we saw, we weren't impressed. Next time I guess.

Next, we decided to drive down Highway 1 to Santa Cruz for dinner. On the way we saw this huge old Light House (which is now closed). It was built in the 1870's if I remember correctly. It's so corroded that it's closed now but you can walk the grounds and the buildings around it are actually a Hostel. Such an odd location...

We made it to Santa Cruz in good time passing up a TON of great beaches to visit on our next road trip. On the way to downtown S.C. we saw the cutest park and made another spontaneous stop to let the boys run around and get some energy out.

Sunday we spent some time with my family for brunch. The cousins got to play and Noah was in heaven playing baseball in their front yard.

We had a great weekend and I'm already looking forward to our next spontaneous getaway.

xoxo
