Maui Date Nights

So far we have 2 dates nights planned while we're on Maui. I can't wait! A huge thank you to Nana for watching the boys for us. I'm looking forward to some alone time with the hubby.

Date #1 | Mama's Fish House in Pa`ia

Pa`ia is probably my favorite little town on Maui. It has the cutest little boutiques and the best grocery store, Mana Foods (I think) on the Island.

So looking forward to this meal.

Date #2 | Monkeypod Kitchen in Wailea

My favorite restaurant on Maui. They have the best farm to fork menu and look at that décor. I want those chairs for my house! If only my purse were big enough.

If you ever get a chance to eat here, you HAVE to try their homemade cream pies. I don't even like pie, but these are to die for!

Only a few more days!!

Shared Room

Noah does not like sleeping by himself. EVER! Our bed has been taken over by a 4 year old and it's not fun.

We've learned our lesson with Elliot and he's been the easiest baby to put down for a nap or to bed at night.

We've been thinking of putting both boys in one room this summer due to a couple of reasons. The first is we're hoping it will put an end to sleeping with mom and dad and second, the boys love each other so much and we don't see any downsides to them sharing a room to become closer.

With that said, you know my mind has been in "mood board" and "what-can-I-buy-for-their-shared-room" mode lately. Since Elliot is still in his crib (I don't foresee that changing anytime soon) it's really put me through the ringer to figure out which room will work best for them and how in the heck I'm going to configure it. But to me, that's what I call fun!

One thing I do know is that this baby new Land of Nod shelf will be placed in their new shared room and I can't wait for it to arrive.

Here's what I'm currently working with right now .

Mood Board

Now we just gotta figure out which room will work best and where everything will go.

FUN!!

The Glorious Top Bun

If you've been hanging around me lately, you know that my new go-to look is the top bun.

I love it! It's chic, sophisticated, incredibly easy and saves your hair from all the harsh heat elements such as blow dryers and flat irons.

Here are some of my favorite top bun looks right now.

Try it! You may just love it too.

Flight Entertainment for Toddlers | Surprise Ball

We're off to Maui soon! Kandah family vacation 2014! Whaaaat!

We're all so excited and can't wait to get on that plane beach to get some sun.

There are many things we as parents need to think about when traveling with small kids. Yes, our biggest challenge is that grueling flight. It's Elliot's first flight so I'm curious to see if he's going to be a happy little traveler or a nightmare challenge. Noah on the other hand will be easy. We'll be bringing our iPad with his favorite shows and lots and lots of snacks. That should keep him busy.

One trick we learned from some good friends of ours was to buy a bunch of toys from the $1 bins at Target and wrap them up in tissue paper. When Noah got antsy on our flight we'd give him a toy or activity to unwrap. We did this when we flew to Maui the last time (2 years ago) and it worked great. Although it's only about 4 minutes of fun for him, it let him focus on something else until he moved onto the next thing.

This is also a great idea for long road trips.

This time around we'll be doing the same thing and also making the cool new "surprise ball" that's been getting more and more popular with kids.

Here's How:

You'll need to make a trip to Target or the Dollar store to pick up some inexpensive small toys. Be creative! You'll also need to grab some crepe paper streamers (each ball takes about a half of a roll) and some double sided tape to secure the ends.

You can start with something inside a plastic egg such as candy or a small toy and just start wrapping away. After a couple of wraps, add another toy and then another. For the most rounded ball, make sure you're pressing and forming the crepe paper in your hands while wrapping. It doesn't need to be perfect.
And Tada! You have officially made a surprise ball. You can either leave it as is or decorate the outside with stickers. Once again, do as much or as little as you want.

These boys are going to love it!

Friday Finds | The Chambray Shirt

Ladies and Gentlemen, this is IT. My new, most beloved prized material possession.

The Chambray Shirt

Isn't she lovely? So versatile and classic. I would wear it everyday if people didn't think I was a big weirdo!

Here are some other great chambray looks I've seen around.

Our 2014 Easter Weekend

We had an amazing Easter weekend. We celebrated my sister Dana's birthday with a fabulous dinner at Sauce in San Francisco on Saturday night. It was delish!

After recuperating from said dinner, we three sisters headed home while the guys stayed out and closed the bars down.

Early on Easter morning my sisters and I jogged walked over to these beautiful mosaic stairs by Dana's house and climbed to the top (ok, I only climbed about half way up) to see the most amazing view of the Golden Gate bridge, the ocean and how beautiful and quite San Francisco is that early in the morning. A nice light jog (Stefanie ran) back to the house and Noah had just awakened.

Had the Easter bunny left anything for him and his brother? He quickly leaped out of bed to check and found so many great goodies!

Elliot was awake shortly thereafter and Noah held up his older brotherly duties by showing him his basket and helping him unwrap it. Boy that Easter bunny sure knows exactly what to get them doesn't he?

Our day continued with an extremely high point amazing brunch at the house. Dutch babies, 3 types of bacon, 2 fritatta's, fruit salad and mini monkey bread bites.

After brunch and clean dishes we needed to get our blood flowing again. Dana surprised us with team shirts she had made for us all and we headed down to the park to play a nice family game of softball.

Softball ended and the boys were exhausted as were we, so we headed home.

We had a great time and couldn't have asked for better company or weather this past weekend!

This one goes down in the books! Best Easter ever!

Friday Finds

Happy Good Friday everyone! (To each and every one of my three readers. It may be five readers by the end of next week. A girl can only hope.)

Who's ready for Easter? Me, Me, Me!!! I can't wait to spend time with my family in SF. We have an amazing brunch planned at my sisters and then we're all walking down to the park after to play some baseball, run around and possibly get two certain little boys tired out. Let's hope the San Francisco weather agrees with our plans.

Where were we? Oh, yes....Who doesn't love Pinterest? I'm pretty sure I'm on it everyday. How about you? You can pin anything from home décor to the outfit you might wear tomorrow. (Ok, maybe it's just me who does that.) I've gotten so much inspiration over the past couple of years from Pinterest and it just keeps on giving. Thanks Pinterest!

Oh Pinterest, how I love thee! Let me count the ways...

Ok, back to the post at hand. Each Friday I'm going to share some of my favorite weekly pins. I thought it only seemed right to kick off this new weekly tradition with my favorite outfits I've found on Pinterest recently.

Which one is your favorite?

Now I just need to go shopping! Don't tell the hubby!

Wishing you and your family a very Happy Easter!

Giants or Dodgers?

We are baseball team rivals in our household . A certain 4 year old used to be a Giants fan like his mom, but since his idol, aka Dad, is a Dodger fan...ya, you guessed it, so is he now. It's been a little over a year since the "transition". What happened to my little 2 year old who loved the Giants??

Last night the hubby took a certain little guy to the Giants/Dodger game and for the second year in a row, he was able to score a ball from a player. Lucky duck!

That's one happy 4 year old!

PS. I have high hopes on making Elliot a Giants fan. There's still hope. I don't want to be outnumbered!

I did it!

So... I did it! I finally started my own blog!! Snaps for me! It's been a long time coming and something I've been wanting to do forever!

I want this to be a place to store our family's special moments and memories. So we can look back on all our adventures and remember all the fun and exciting times we had together. A year book for my kids if you will.

(Kandah Family Fun Day | Monterey 3.16.14)

This will also be a place I can display/talk about my OCD tendencies, mood boards, kiddie and home DIY projects and my favorite.....my boys' birthday parties!! (Yes, I did say OCD mood boards....stay tuned!)

I'm looking forward to what's in store for us Kandah's and can't wait to start this journey together.
