Bringing a Little LOVE

Ok, seriously!?

Who in their right mind wouldn't kill for this kitchen?? Who? Tell me!

Young House Love was asked to design one of the 7 houses built for the Homearama Showcase in Richmond, VA. They have shown several rooms in the house so far on their blog, but this kitchen just takes the cake. I mean, come on!

Look at those pendants!! And I'm dying for the stools, but I think my most favorite thing about the room is the colors and of course the white marble counter tops. DREAMY!

Hello lovely eat-in nook.

Hello dreamy pantry. You're bigger than my kids bedroom.

Maui Date Nights

So far we have 2 dates nights planned while we're on Maui. I can't wait! A huge thank you to Nana for watching the boys for us. I'm looking forward to some alone time with the hubby.

Date #1 | Mama's Fish House in Pa`ia

Pa`ia is probably my favorite little town on Maui. It has the cutest little boutiques and the best grocery store, Mana Foods (I think) on the Island.

So looking forward to this meal.

Date #2 | Monkeypod Kitchen in Wailea

My favorite restaurant on Maui. They have the best farm to fork menu and look at that décor. I want those chairs for my house! If only my purse were big enough.

If you ever get a chance to eat here, you HAVE to try their homemade cream pies. I don't even like pie, but these are to die for!

Only a few more days!!

Shared Room

Noah does not like sleeping by himself. EVER! Our bed has been taken over by a 4 year old and it's not fun.

We've learned our lesson with Elliot and he's been the easiest baby to put down for a nap or to bed at night.

We've been thinking of putting both boys in one room this summer due to a couple of reasons. The first is we're hoping it will put an end to sleeping with mom and dad and second, the boys love each other so much and we don't see any downsides to them sharing a room to become closer.

With that said, you know my mind has been in "mood board" and "what-can-I-buy-for-their-shared-room" mode lately. Since Elliot is still in his crib (I don't foresee that changing anytime soon) it's really put me through the ringer to figure out which room will work best for them and how in the heck I'm going to configure it. But to me, that's what I call fun!

One thing I do know is that this baby new Land of Nod shelf will be placed in their new shared room and I can't wait for it to arrive.

Here's what I'm currently working with right now .

Mood Board

Now we just gotta figure out which room will work best and where everything will go.

FUN!!

The Glorious Top Bun

If you've been hanging around me lately, you know that my new go-to look is the top bun.

I love it! It's chic, sophisticated, incredibly easy and saves your hair from all the harsh heat elements such as blow dryers and flat irons.

Here are some of my favorite top bun looks right now.

Try it! You may just love it too.

Flight Entertainment for Toddlers | Surprise Ball

We're off to Maui soon! Kandah family vacation 2014! Whaaaat!

We're all so excited and can't wait to get on that plane beach to get some sun.

There are many things we as parents need to think about when traveling with small kids. Yes, our biggest challenge is that grueling flight. It's Elliot's first flight so I'm curious to see if he's going to be a happy little traveler or a nightmare challenge. Noah on the other hand will be easy. We'll be bringing our iPad with his favorite shows and lots and lots of snacks. That should keep him busy.

One trick we learned from some good friends of ours was to buy a bunch of toys from the $1 bins at Target and wrap them up in tissue paper. When Noah got antsy on our flight we'd give him a toy or activity to unwrap. We did this when we flew to Maui the last time (2 years ago) and it worked great. Although it's only about 4 minutes of fun for him, it let him focus on something else until he moved onto the next thing.

This is also a great idea for long road trips.

This time around we'll be doing the same thing and also making the cool new "surprise ball" that's been getting more and more popular with kids.

Here's How:

You'll need to make a trip to Target or the Dollar store to pick up some inexpensive small toys. Be creative! You'll also need to grab some crepe paper streamers (each ball takes about a half of a roll) and some double sided tape to secure the ends.

You can start with something inside a plastic egg such as candy or a small toy and just start wrapping away. After a couple of wraps, add another toy and then another. For the most rounded ball, make sure you're pressing and forming the crepe paper in your hands while wrapping. It doesn't need to be perfect.
And Tada! You have officially made a surprise ball. You can either leave it as is or decorate the outside with stickers. Once again, do as much or as little as you want.

These boys are going to love it!

Friday Finds | The Chambray Shirt

Ladies and Gentlemen, this is IT. My new, most beloved prized material possession.

The Chambray Shirt

Isn't she lovely? So versatile and classic. I would wear it everyday if people didn't think I was a big weirdo!

Here are some other great chambray looks I've seen around.
