Happy Hump Day! Is it Wednesday already?
I know the weekend was so long ago a couple of days ago, however I wanted to share with you some things I did over the weekend because we had such a fabulous time in my hometown. (Ok, so I'm not really from Chico, but the sticks we grew up in isn't really a town either so...potato potatoe)
Noah, Auntie Do Do and I went on a road trip Friday night from San Jose to San Francisco to Chico. We left SJ around 5:15pm, dropped Elliot off with the hubby at his work and then picked up Auntie Do Do in SF around 7:30pm. We devoured ate some very delicious tacos, was on the road again by 8:00pm and arrived in Chico around 11:30pm (with a little stop in Orland to drop off a ton of baby clothes, toys and books to Dana's BFF, Katie). Thanks for lightening up our load Katie!
Saturday morning we got up early (it was already hot by 7:00am!) to meet up with some old friends from elementary and high school to catch up over coffee in downtown Chico. It was so good to see these girls and some of their kiddos.
We then ventured off to the Chico Farmers Market. Everything looked and tasted so delicious!
After the market we walked around downtown (which consists of all of 2 streets) and low and behold we found a Powell's Candy Shop. Noah was beyond excited. And for the record, he picked out that Giants pez dispenser all by himself.

Future Giants fan again?? |
We headed back to the house for some much needed pool time since it was so dang hot out! I still can't believe after all our attempts the past 4 years that Noah is now loving the water. This is his second time in the pool and boy did he love it!

Swimming tires you out! |
Saturday night we got to experience our little sister dance her last time for us at Hyperbole. She choreographed and danced in her own solo (which was a surprise) to thank her mom for all that she's done for her. We were all in tears. Best performance ever Brit! Each of her dances were amazing! She is an extremely talented dancer and I cannot wait to see her dance for San Diego State.
Sunday morning we scrambled to get the graduation party for Bryce and Brittany set up before 11am and we were successful! The decor looked so cute (hot dog bar, margarita bar) and we were ready to eat, drink and swim the day away.
After the party we packed it up and headed out to where we're really from, Capay. I hadn't been out there in years and so much has changed or just looks different because I'm all grown up now (am I?).
This is the Capay Store which is in walking distance of our K-8 elementary school. We used to LOVE riding our bikes here to buy some candy in the summers. It's under new ownership now and they have cute little tri-tip dinners on occasion and have really spruced the place up. We miss the old owners but glad the place is still up and running. Such good memories...
And here's my old school. I was here from kindergarten through 8th grade. I loved it here and wouldn't have changed where I grew up for anything. I wish I would have taken a better photo so you can see the cow pastures next door.
Here's our old school bus stop my dad built for us kids probably when I was around 6 or 7 years old. It's still sitting there on a private road, but no longer in use.
As we were driving out of Capay and into Orland territory we came across several of these train cars. So why not climb onto one and take a quick pic while your 4 year old is fast asleep in the car on this beautiful day of around 105 degrees? I can't think of a reason why not. Can you?
Until next time Chico, Capay and Orland!
xoxo
